This is a project funded by the Valencia Provincial Council with €17,000 that uses music for rehabilitation in mental health.
The Camp de Túria Consortium, through the PRISMA program of the Department of Social Welfare and Health, has secured a grant from the Valencia Provincial Council amounting to €17,000 to launch the project "MUSICALmente".
Its objective is to use music as a therapeutic, creative, and social inclusion tool to promote the psychosocial rehabilitation and autonomy of individuals with severe mental health issues.
Twelve workshops will be held at each center (Riba-roja de Túria, Bétera, La Pobla de Vallbona, Vilamarxant, Marines, and l’Eliana) led by music therapy professionals, aimed at reducing anxiety, processing trauma, and regulating the nervous system.
Innovative methodologies such as Lego Serious Play will be implemented to compose music collectively. Participants will also digitally produce a reivindicative rap, record a music video, and create their own instruments from recycled materials.
Additionally, in collaboration with the foundation "Musicians for Health", participants will perform at nursing homes. This reverses their role from "being cared for" to "being caregivers", fostering their sense of usefulness and dignity.
A high-level cultural outing to the city of Valencia is also planned (visiting the Palau de les Arts and the Caixaforum exhibition) to normalize access to culture. Furthermore, a "Musical Overnight" will be held at a local hostel, bringing together users from different centers to strengthen social bonds.
This project aims not only for individual well-being but also to educate society on diversity and promote real inclusion.
The community culmination will be the grand celebration of World Mental Health Day (October) in the municipality of l'Eliana, where a "Synesthetic Mural" will be created open to the public. Additionally, the project will be disseminated through radio workshops and local podcasts, a dedicated website, and the publication of an institutional calendar showcasing the generated art.
